Is a heel spur and plantar fasciitis the same condition and how are these caused?
Patients and Doctors often will confuse these terms. While these two diagnoses are related to one another, they are however not the same.
So what are exactly are these then?

Plantar Fasciitis is the inflammation of the plantar fascia- the tissue that forms the arch of the foot.
Heel Spur is a hook of bone that can form on the heel bone (calcaneus) and is associated with plantar fasciitis.
